Tammy-I think your pictures are so absolutely beautiful and perfect. I would love to be able to create art like that. I am on my second Canon SLR and have not moved past the auto mode. I would love a scholarship to your online class. Thank you for the chance.

Dana J - November 30, 2009 - 11:24 am

I {heart} my new camera. I just wish I had it earlier when DD was going through chemo. Of course, now that she is 6 and a survivor, I take wayyyyyyy too many photos! I just need to understand more about lighting and how to adjust!!

Stephanie - November 30, 2009 - 9:07 am

I would love to win your photography class. I have a Canon 30D, that I love, but would love to learn to take better pictures.

debbi g. - November 29, 2009 - 7:53 pm

THis would be great!! I saw you mentioned over at Theresa Collins blog and how fun it would be to use my camera better. I love photography (a bit obsessed actually) and just when I THINK I have an idea of what I am doing…my pictures prove me wrong. LOL..It would be a wonderful Christmas present.
Thanks for the chance.

Lisa Bracale - November 29, 2009 - 4:23 pm

This looks good. I have a Canon Digital Rebel and sadly just leave it on the auto. I have on several occasions been brazen and switched to the action(person running I think) for soccer. That’s about the extent of my knowledge so this would be up my alley. thanks for the chance.

Laurie Martin-Cohn - November 28, 2009 - 8:11 pm

Oh, Tammy!!! I just read about your scholarship on Teresa Collins’ Blog! Can you hear me and my Canon Rebel calling you????

Top Ten Reasons Laurie Needs Tammy’s Picture Perfect Class
#10 I am an avid,self-taught photographer
#9 I get about 100 good shots of 500 taken at my son’s baseball games.
#8 I know Adobe Photoshop, but not nearly enough to improve my mediocre shots.
#7 I LOVE your photographs! They speak to me!
#6 I am a teacher myself and I love to learn new things!
#5 My family will be so happy to no longer look like goons in my annual Christmas Fam Photo!
#4 I am on a design team now, and I still struggle to get good lighting on my scrapbook projects and pages.
#3 I just lost my extra duty contract and my husband has been unemployed since March, so paying tuition is not in the cards right now.
#2 I need to release myself from safety mode forever!
And the #1 Reason Laurie needs Tammy’s Picture Perfect Class…
Photography is my passion, and I want my photos to truly reflect that passion!!!

Thank you!
Laurie Martin-Cohn

Amanda - November 28, 2009 - 8:03 pm

I am in desperate need of this class just like all of these other girls! LOL. We all just want to learn something from you and are grateful for your giving spirit!

Heidi - November 28, 2009 - 4:54 pm

Tammy,I’m embarrassed to say that I am on my 2nd Cannon digital slr, (this one is the D40) and I have only used auto. Time and cost are big factors for the auto. When I went to Teresa’s blog I thought, why not try…so…I’m trying. Now I’m going to g check out your site and see what I can learn from just looking.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

Cheryl - November 28, 2009 - 3:24 pm

Hi Tammy,

I have been carrying around a broken/vibrating point and shoot for the past 6 years. I tried to make my pictures look better in Photoshop. That was all I could afford. I did a favor for my BFF that was in a car accident. She gave me a D90 as a thank you – I know – that is amazing! Now I desperately need to learn how to use it. Your class is exactly what I need!

All the Best,

Cheryl

Ilona - November 27, 2009 - 7:58 pm

Got my camera almost a year ago, doing better but I still need to take like 25 pictures to get one good one, and if something is wrong with a picture I stumble around trying to readjust only to miss the shot. Would love to take your class. Thanks for the chance.

Jen Randall - November 27, 2009 - 11:00 am

Hi! I am so glad that while I was looking at Teresa Collin’s blog, I saw this. I would LOVE to win a spot in your online course. I have always been passionate about taking photos and dream of becoming a “real” photographer. I own a digital Canon Rebel. She is beautiful and I can’t wait to learn how to use her the right way. :) I love looking at amazing work from such gifted photographers like yourself & can’t wait for mine to look like that too. The beauty around me & my children (4 & 8mos)inspire me…and I need help! My technical knowledge of the camera & the budding inner artist in me don’t match. I will hope and pray that I will be the lucky girl chosen. Thank you so much for the opportunity!

Kate Burrough - November 27, 2009 - 9:45 am

Hi Tammy! I read TC’s blog regularly. I would really use this class. I have a four year old Nikon D-50 that I take wonderful photos with but I have never gone beyond “Auto” or the preset buttons for sports mode, etc. I would love to learn how to use the camera to its fullest potential. Thanks for the opportunity to get the class for free!

Suzanne - November 27, 2009 - 9:24 am

HI, Tammy!!! I need your class but I want to use my camera to its full capacity! So much I need, and want to learn. Your photos are always amazing, and I want mine to look like yours! Well, I can hope! LOL

Margo Herndon - November 26, 2009 - 8:35 pm

Would love the opportunity to learn more about my SLR camera. Thank you for such a exciting opportunity.

Sue White - November 26, 2009 - 10:23 am

Hi, I was on Teresa Colins website and she said that you are going to give away a photo class to someone. I would really like to win this, because I have 4 grandsons that are all into sports ( basketball , football, wreslting and baseball) and I have a hard time getting clear good pictures of them. I could use all the help I could get. Thanks alot!!!

Denise - November 25, 2009 - 9:23 pm

What there is another mode besides auto. Let me go check. Wow you’re right….so you see I need this chance at taking this class. Thanks for the chance!!
Denise

Lia Biscoe - November 25, 2009 - 8:54 pm

Tammy,
Similar to many of the posts before me, I only shoot in Auto mode and could greatly benefit from your class. Your generosity is appreciated.
Lia

Summer Braxton - November 25, 2009 - 7:12 pm

I can answer a loud YES! to all those questions. This class IS for me. I cannot afford the tuition, so I’ll be praying I’m the lucky one. I’ve been looking for someone to teach me how to use my fancy Canon Rebel and the 3 extra lenses I have. Oh, goodness…. I’ve just gotta win.

sharon f, california - November 25, 2009 - 6:20 pm

I need to learn how to use the manual mode with confidence. I have a dog who is moving all the time but is absolutely beautiful. I also am the aunt to 8 nieces and nephews and the family’s historian and storyteller. I need to be able to capture not just photos of them, but capture who they are. Please choose me to win this all so important experience!

Dianne - November 25, 2009 - 4:53 pm

I own a Canon Rebel XT and I have never and are too chicken to take that baby off of auto pilot! I haven’t even turned the little dial in that direction so yes, I need your class! I have owned the camera for 4 years and I’m so happy with it but I have never shot out of auto.

So happy to have found your site grom Teresa’s and yes I will return and share with my friends!

Dianne P.

Michele L. - November 25, 2009 - 4:26 pm

I SO need this class…I WANT and NEED to take pictures of: my new baby nephew, an upcoming trip with my mom, pictures of the everyday and of course, pictures of nature.

Amy Hayes - November 25, 2009 - 11:50 am

I am so excited you are doing this class. I actually signed up for Maggie Holmes class last year and paid more, but was so nervous about my camera that I never actually did any of the assignments. I would love to win this class and actually do it this time. I love taking pictures and do so on auto mode for my family and my work as a preschool teacher. i would love to share better picture with all my student’s famlies as well as my own. Thanks for the chance to win. – - Amy

Tina Powell - November 25, 2009 - 10:54 am

I have a Canon 40D that I bought a year ago October, I have played with it a little in manual mode and some times my pictures look good and other times its the pits…not real sure if what I am doing is right or not. And when I do get a really good shot I forget what settings I had it on and why the numbers make sense at all that gave me the right light. So this sounds like the class for me…I need some major guidence and would love the opportunity to win your class.
Tina :)

Suzi - November 25, 2009 - 9:50 am

I would love an opportunity to learn techniques and recommendations from you. I have a great camera and I would love to shoot in manual mode some day (soon). I know bits of this and that, but I would love to feel like I can put it all together without so much uncertainty. I would love to learn from you! Thank you for this opportunity!!

Shelly Steffy - November 25, 2009 - 9:38 am

I too am here by way of Teresa’s blog. It’s an amazing coincidence becasue I just bought a Nikon D-5000 and desperately need some instruction so I can get the most out of it! I would LOVE to take this course!!

StacyS. - November 25, 2009 - 7:41 am

I would love to take part in this class! I have a Sony A100 that I got for Christmas two years ago and it takes amazing photos, but I would love to be able to take it off the auto and do more with it. My husband works away alot so going to a class locally in the evening just doesn’t work for me – taking your class would be perfect!
Thanks for the chance to win:)
StacyS.

Erin K - November 25, 2009 - 7:20 am

I have a Nikon D40. I have never had it out of auto-mode! I would love to win, because I could never afford a class on how to use my camera. It was given to me as a gift and I love the memories I am able to capture of my 2 year old. I would love to have better pictures to scrap! Thank you for the giveaway. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving.

Cheryl Wagner - November 25, 2009 - 7:14 am

My husband bought me a Canon 20 D for mothers day – What a sweetheart right?! But I can’t take it off auto – I need help! I have always had a dream of “being a photographer” – my family call me the paparazzi but I have to be that and take a million just to get one good shot with auto! Please help me, I would love this class! Thanks for the chance!

Karin C - November 25, 2009 - 3:41 am

Ummmmmmm, I thought auto-mode was the only mode it had! Kidding, but I wouldn’t know what else to do with it..clearly I am in need….

CindyML - November 24, 2009 - 9:13 pm

I upgraded from a Canon Rebel to a 50D with a 17-85 lens. I also splurged and got the 70-200L 2.8 lens for indoor volleyball photos. I got the lens, put it on the new camera and handed it to one of my dd’s volleyball friends to set it up for me to take photos. I left it on the settings for the rest of the season because I did not know how to change it. I would LOVE this class so I could get the most out of this wonderful lens and camera. Thanks for the chance to win. CindyML

Cindee - November 24, 2009 - 8:42 pm

I so need this class. I have a beautiful Canon Rebel that is always on auto. I keep saing I am going to take a class and I haven’t. This would be perfect!

Tove Mayer - November 24, 2009 - 8:11 pm

I have my Cannon 40D and I have been on auto mode way too long, Would love to be the lucky winner of the class.Whenever I try by myself , I seem to be messing up everything, so I am back to where I started , Square 1. I would love to move on .
Thanks ,
Tove

Tanya Verse - November 24, 2009 - 7:01 pm

Many thanks to Theresa for mentioning this in her post. I would love to learn how to use other functions on my camera.

cindy barriga - November 24, 2009 - 7:01 pm

I am visiting by way of Teresa’s blog and am in need of this class. I live in auto mode and never stray from my safety zone. This would be a great departure for me. Thanks!!

Shawn Wenrich - November 24, 2009 - 6:44 pm

I purchased my first DSLR this year and while I’ve experimented and taken one online course I could really use some more inspiration. I’ve gotten some great photos but I want to consistently get them. Help please:)

Jenny Johns - November 24, 2009 - 6:28 pm

Oh, this class would be wonderful to take! I have a Nikon D40x and use it all the time to take action shots of my son’s baseball games, and family events, and everything! The only thing is that I don’t take it off of ‘auto’ mode…I just know there are fantastic things for me to learn…I just need someone to ‘show’ me…duh, a video tutorial! Thanks for the chance to learn more about my camera abilities!

Synettra C. - November 24, 2009 - 6:13 pm

OH MY GOSH….I sooooo need this class. I have had my camera for two years (got it for mothers day) and I have not taken it off of auto mode. So want to get better dance recital pictures, basketball shots and football shots…oh just better shots overall.
I have been scrapping the bad photos as well as the good because they are all memories. To be able to have better photos would be wonderful and to actually learn what my camera can really do. Am I scared yes….but ready, willing and able.

Janet! - November 24, 2009 - 6:11 pm

I’m a TC blog reader and I would love to win free tuition to your online workshop. I’ve always taken photos. If there is an occasion (or no occasion at all), I will be the only one with the camera. There is SO much beauty around us, so much life around us that people fail to see. Through photography, I want to be able to invoke thought, inspire and share stories of everyday beauty that surrounds us. I just invested in a Canon T1i. I don’t even know how to use the camera if it isn’t in auto mode. I’d enjoy learning about lenses, different perspectives of photos, aperture, shutter speed, etc. from one of THE BEST!!!

Lisa S. - November 24, 2009 - 5:17 pm

I have a Nikon D60 with three different lenses. I bought a book called Nikon D60 for Dummies and have read a few pages but can’t seem to get excited about it and since I’m a visual learner I’m having a hard time learning from a book. I would love to really learn how to actually *use* my camera in the way it was meant to be used. I’m sure a video tutorial would be awesome!
Thank you for the opportunity!

Cheryl - November 24, 2009 - 4:27 pm

I would love to win this class. I love photos and taking pics but really need some serious help. It would be such a wonderful gift.

kat-in-texas - November 24, 2009 - 3:45 pm

I’ve heard Teresa say great things about you before and would love to take your class one day. You can never have enough photography instruction! And keeping it fresh with a new perspective is exciting!!! Thanks!!!

Tina - November 24, 2009 - 3:10 pm

I love taking pictures. A lot. I am pretty good at it…in Auto :) I would love to be able to step away from my comfort zone and use my camera (canon 50d) as it was intended. This is an awesome opportunity to do just that!

Bridget - November 24, 2009 - 3:08 pm

I want to learn how to take amazing photos like you and Teresa. I have always loved photography and don’t like how my photos turn out sometimes. I would love to learn how to take the photos I exect.
Thanks!

jane - November 24, 2009 - 1:52 pm

I don’t need this class BUT would REALY LOVE to take this class!!! I enjoy taking photographs and it would be WONDERFUL to learn how to change it up a bit:)

jane :)

jeanie - November 24, 2009 - 1:51 pm

i would love this class and i am so glad teresa posted about it. because i learn so much by myself but am so looking for a place to take classes online as it is hard to learn everything you want to learn all alone….thanks.

Gloria Gomez - November 24, 2009 - 1:25 pm

I love taking pictures, but sometimes what I think will result as the perfect picture ends up coming out blurry, dark, or a bit out of focus. I later research what feature I should have used, but by then its too late, can’t go back. This class will help me learn how to set up my camera BEFORE I take the pictures and have them come out as expected.
I was sent here by the wonderfully creative Teresa Collins!

Melody Whipple - November 24, 2009 - 1:17 pm

Please pick me! I can take photos with it on auto focus. I have tried manual, but photos are blurred. I have no idea how to take my photography to the next level. Please, please, please help me!

rebecca keppel - November 24, 2009 - 11:28 am

I have had a Canon Rebel for about 5 years and I’ve tried to read the manual about 100 times with no luck! I would love to take this class!

Kim - November 24, 2009 - 11:14 am

I NEED this class simply because I want to take photographs, not just snapshots. My grandfather was a professional photographer, but he passed away before I realized my passion for photography as well.

Terri - November 24, 2009 - 10:37 am

I so need this class, I’ve been trying to break out of auto but its hit or miss whether the pics turn out.

Susie - November 24, 2009 - 10:03 am

Just got a new Canon XTI, never have switched off auto. I love what it can do but wonder how great I could be if I ever figured out what the rest off the dial does! Pick me, pick me!!!

Susan M - November 24, 2009 - 9:52 am

I would so love to win a spot in your class. I want to break out of “auto”!!

Michelle - November 24, 2009 - 9:48 am

Hi Tammy,
I guess the necessity of this class could not come at a better time. While I have owned several digital cameras, they get returned because they seem to not “deliver” what they are supposed to. I am sure it must be me. The scary thing is when I was in high school, we had to make a camera with an oatmeal cereal container. Well I made one complete with a tripod that I still have and I think the photos I took with that turn out better than the ones I take today. The plus is today there is a delete button. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving!

Kim - November 24, 2009 - 9:29 am

Thanks so much for a chance to win! I read about your class on Teresa’s blog and it sounds like just what I was looking for.

Marian H - November 24, 2009 - 8:44 am

I would love to win this class. I have a great camera that I experiment with every now and then – and would really love to know how to take better pictures in different settings. Thanks for the opportunity.

Juel - November 24, 2009 - 8:16 am

My loving husband has in the past had his own photography business on the side. He knows what it takes to create those wonderful photos and I’ve learned the basics from him. However when it comes to the settings on the camera he has tried teaching me and well, I’m just better off leaving it in automatic mode. I would love the opportunity to step out and learn from you.

jackie deguevara - November 24, 2009 - 7:39 am

I take the worst photos of anyone on the planet! I have an etsy store and have to photo my jewelry and the photos are really bad and so that makes sales really bad, I started a cooking blog, the photos of the food are really bad so that makes my cooking look really bad!! Yes, I think I need this class really bad!!
jackie

Maria - November 24, 2009 - 7:32 am

i would love a chance to win this class. i graduated from a point and shoot digital to a more advanced digital SLR. HELP! i have post it notes all over the manual to help me, but i have not dared to move it out of auto mode! i am soooo lost.

Shawn - November 24, 2009 - 7:19 am

Why do I need this class?

My husband gave me a Nikon D300 for Christmas last year and it has never been off of auto mode. I have tried a few times and he even bought me the DVD on how to use it but it makes no sense to me…I am so lost. Please help me :)

Thank you.

Yvonne Blair - November 24, 2009 - 6:46 am

Hi Tammy, thank you so much for the opportunity to win a class. I so need this class because I am one of those ones who has never left the safety net of auto on my dial. I would love to learn how to use the manual features or at least become comfortable enough to not feel like I might break my camera, lol. Thanks again for being so thoughtful. keeping my fingers crossed.
Hugs,
Yvonne

Sonia Pitts - November 24, 2009 - 6:45 am

I need this class so bad!!! I have had my Canon Rebel xTi for a few years now and until I met you at IU it was ALWAYS in auto mode. Since the workshop you gave at IU I’ve had it in nothing but Manual and have been trying to figure things out! I would really really really love to take your class so that I could figure out all the things there are to using my camera. I LOVE taking pictures. They make me happy and I just love to see the amazing things captured. Ive been practicing at my kids baseball and soccer games and it’s great because some of the expressions Ive managed to capture are priceless. Not only that but taking pictures of my family and friends is just so important to me! Thanks Tammy!!! Wishing you and your family a Beautiful Thanksgiving!
-Sonia

Dale P. - November 24, 2009 - 6:42 am

I would love to take this class. I have a Canon Rebel that I have never taken off auto mode. Your class description of who should take this class fits me to a tee.
I NEED some motivation to get me started in learning about great photography!!

Jennifer - November 24, 2009 - 6:36 am

This would be an amazing class for me. Why do I need it? Because I never take my Canon Rebel out of auto mode and 9 times out of 10 I use my daughter’s Kodak point and shoot and get better pictures. I know my camera can do better. Its the nut behind the camera that has the problem!

Nancy Smith - November 24, 2009 - 6:16 am

What a great Christmas gift this would be. I have a new Cannon Rebel but use it as a point and shoot camera. For years I have used my Pentex K1000 and have great pictures but I wanted to have a digital camera. I would love to win this class. I have two new Grandbabies both due on the same day in Febuary! Thanks for such a great giveaway!

{vicki} - November 24, 2009 - 6:12 am

I have only had my Canon 50D since August and REALLY need to know how to use it> My son is into sports and I don’t have a clue as to how to get a GREAT ACTION shot. Who am I kidding– I don’t have a clue how to get a GREAT STILL shot!
Thanks for the chance–You and Teresa ROCK!

Michelle P. - November 24, 2009 - 6:02 am

Hi! I discovered your class through Teresa Collins. I would love to win this tuition for your class; I just made the transition to SLR because we are going away to Hawaii in the spring (my dream for so long) and I wanted to capture the best pictures ever. I need to learn how it works and this class is just perfect for me. I am crossing my fingers for luck. thanks for this giveaway amazing!

Rene Lewis - November 24, 2009 - 5:53 am

I purchased my camera a year ago for my birthday and actually took a class on how to use it. Unfortunately, I don’t remember much from the class and seriously need another to remember what I learned! Thanks for the opportunity.

Jenny - November 24, 2009 - 5:23 am

So, I guess I’m not the only one that doesn’t leave AUTO.
Would LUV to win!
thanks!

Barb P. - November 24, 2009 - 4:38 am

Would love the opportunity to learn more about my SLR camera!

Theresa Grdina - November 24, 2009 - 4:20 am

Hi Tammi. I am here from Teresa Collins’ blog….I have a wonderful camera that my husband bought me for my 50th birthday – TWO YEARS AGO!! And I am terrified of switching it from the auto mode!! I am just sure I will break it! I could use your class, that’s for sure!!!

elaine keller - November 24, 2009 - 4:03 am

I have been searching for a class near me to take (with no luck) and I just read TC Blog and see you are offering one online AND the chance to possibly win it !!
I am getting one for Christmas this year and would love to know how to use it out of the gate!!

sherly - November 24, 2009 - 3:59 am

hi tammy! thanks for this opportunity, this is really helpful and exciting!=) And yes my d60 never left the auto mode, i need to take good pictures more for my baby girl =) And to get great shots all the time =) thanks!

Kristi - November 24, 2009 - 12:21 am

I read the post when you announced the class. I am excited for you and everyone taking it(hopefully me too). My sister just sent me her Canon Rebel Digital. I am completely in Auto mode. I have tried other settings and my pics are just not the quality I want them to have like I see on your blog.
Currently, I have 3 children and I am 6 mo pregnant with the 4th. My sister lives in Nashville and would love some good quality pics of our new baby girl.
Hopefully, I will be able to take your class, it will end just in time for our newbie to arrive.

Congrats on your new endeavor!!!
Kristi

Brenda Walker - November 23, 2009 - 11:14 pm

Wow an amazing thing it would be to actually learn my camera. I have a Nikon D80 and I practice a lot, read tutorials but something just has not clicked for me. My goal is to be pleased with my pictures and tell my families story through the lens. I would love to take your class and have someone that can answer questions when I am stumped. Thank you for this opportunity.

Theresa - November 23, 2009 - 11:03 pm

I have had a Canon Rebel xti for a couple of years and am still trying to figure it out! I’ve improved a little through trial and error but really just need some easy to follow guidelines. Especially night photography and indoor/night photography. Help! I want gorgeous photos for my family and my scrapbook pages/projects. Thanks.

Heather - November 23, 2009 - 11:01 pm

I don’t think there would have been a better time to offer this course! One of my goals for the new year it to sit down and seriously play with my camera to make that magic happen! Jan 4 is close enough to the new year and this class could help in fulfilling this resolution I have for 2010! I am in love with photography…just not mine some times. This course would help improve my technical side so I too can have some really great shots. Thank you for the opportunity! I hope you have a great Thanksgiving week!

Claudette Clements - November 23, 2009 - 10:03 pm

Hi Tammy – I own a Canon Rebel Xti along with a 300 image stablizing lens and external flash. I have this great equipment and don’t know how to use it :) My kids and my environment inspire me and I have the passion to take great photos, but sometimes my photos fall flat. About every few hundred shots, I actually get one I love. I would really love to take your class to learn how to take my photography and passion for the art to the next level.

Shannon Bushman - November 23, 2009 - 9:44 pm

I am so excited to learn about using my camera. I bought it in september and have read many tutorials online and think I understand them and will remember what to do, but as soon as I am on my own I can’t I get confused! I just want to take beautiful pictures!! I would love this class and would love the tuition break in these tough economic times. I so admire great photography and especially those who can photograph their family moments beautifully.

Lisa - November 23, 2009 - 9:38 pm

Hi Tammy:
THANK YOU for this opportunity!
I check your blog and TC’s blog out regularly and love them both. I really need this class because I received a Nikon D90 for my birthday and I try to use S and A modes but I get confused about the settings and go back to Auto all the time-just to be safe. I bought the D90 for Dummies book but never have it with me when I need it. You take such beautiful photos I would love to learn from you! Thank you for sharing your art and life with us.
