Adoption: It’s About Love

This is a special post for me.   Adoption has a special place in my heart.   I have several adopted family memebers and can honestly say that my life would not be the same without it.  I cannot imagine my life without these people in it.

I want to introduce you all to one of my absolute FAVORITE families.

We met Jon and Maggie 7 years ago at church.  I remember the day I met them.  John and I were planning on moving to OC so we came up to check out the apartment complex we were going to live in and go to church where we would soon be joining the congregation.  We headed to sunday school that day, not knowing anyone, only to be met by a super nice couple who quickly introduced themselves and made us feel right at home.  Andy, who at the time was only 5 months old, fell instantly in love with Jon, who is like a favorite uncle to pretty much any kid who ever meets him. :)

After getting to know them better we watched them struggle for years to have a family of their own.  How could this couple, who were SO amazingly loving, fun, kind and selfless be having such a struggle???  They wanted a family more than anything.  After being introduced to the idea of adoption they soon decided that it was for them.   In 2006 we were absolutely tickled as they were blessed with their first baby Sayler.  Watching them as parents, and watching Sayler grow in this home full of love is an amazing experience.  She is the most spunky, fun, cheerful kid.  She makes everyone around her smile.

In December of 2007, I remember getting the call that a new little sweetheart was going to be joining their family.  In just a matter of days, right before Christmas,  little 5 month old Owen, or “big-O” as we prefer to call him, became the newest member of this sweet growing family.  The best Christmas present ever.;)  This little guy has a soft spot in my heart.  He is all boy and totally hillarious.   He has a weakness for chocolate and I have been known to bribe him with it on occassion to get him to hang out with me.;)

This sweet little family is looking to add some more spunk and love to their home.  They have an endless capacity to love.  They are honest, hardworking people with hearts of gold.  If you know of anyone, anywhere who might be looking for the right home to place a baby, I hope you take a minute to introduce them to this wonderful family.   Everyone’s lives will be blessed for it!

I have a soft spot in my heart for adoption too. Our oldest son and our youngest son were both adopted (we don’t know where the girls came from….we aren’t supposed to be able to make babies). I do know a birth father who is trying to talk his girlfriend into placing the baby. Her parents are so against it, but all that can change if the spirit speaks to them. I will put a bug in his ear if I can (it’s kind of a touchy thing) and pray that her parents hearts are softened. Every child needs a mommy and a daddy to be together with FOREVER!
