Restaurants: Los Angeles: andy’s brush with fame: Pop a shot with Ricardo at Barney’s Beanery

I have to say that life at our house is pretty fun with John around.  For those of you that were/are fans of the show Friends (…I know, I’m taking you WAY back!) we like to think of him as our own personal Gandolf.  Gandolf was a friend of Ross and Chandler’s who was just the coolest.  Everytime they talked about him they had these wild stories of the crazy things he would take them to do.  Well, that’s the role that John plays in our family.  😉

Living so close to LA has it’s perks.  We LOVE LA and all the fun things it has to do, wacky things there are to see and famous people to chase.:)  John loves to take advantage of all of that and we head up there quite often.  Last night he wanted to take Andy up for a little fun.  For those of you that are fans of the Jimmy Kimmel show you may know who Ricardo is.  Ricardo works in West Hollywood at LA institution Barney’s Beanery.  Ricardo has a special talent…he ROCKS at Pop A Shot.  Jimmy Kimmel has had him on a few times to play pop a shot against famous NBA players like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James and he beats the pants off them!

Well, last night Ricardo met some new competition…Andy.  We have a pop a shot machine that we got for Christmas last year and Andy ahs been practicing hard.  He’s been waiting for his chance to meet Ricardo.  As luck may have it we headed over to Barney’s for dinner and who was working?  Ricardo!  Andy told our waitress that he was there to meet Ricardo and play pop a shot with him.  He came right over to our table and said hello and asked Andy if he wanted to go play.  The guy is seriously amazing!!  He didn’t miss ONE shot.  Andy was hillarious.  He was literally shaking…you could see the tension on his face…he was taking this REALLY seriously!  Once they were done playing he just kept saying, “I can’t believe I just did that!  I played pop a shot with Ricardo!”  Once we sat down at our table he told me that he was so nervous he couldn’t stop shaking and that he was really glad that it hadn’t been on national television.  I was cracking up.  I LOVE that kid!  You know we had to buy him a t-shirt, so when you see him sporting it around town, you’ll know why! 😉

If you’re ever in the area I highly suggest a visit to Barney’s…the food was surprisingly good (think burgers and sandwiches), the décor was your typical bar decor…(neon beer signs, dart boards…you know the look) and don’t forget a few quarters so you can play pop a shot with Ricardo! 😉

have a great day!
