Happy 4th of July!

Here are some quick and easy last minute treats to make for your party guests today…

Here are a few things that will be on my playlist today…

I was singing the Star Spangled Banner in church on Sunday and was particularly struck by the fourth verse.  I don’t know the words by heart, and rarely even sing that verse…I think that is part of the reason I was paying extra close attention.  I wanted to share the words with you:

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

I have goose bumps now, just reading it again.  Think about it…

“blest with victory and peace…the heav’n rescued land.” 

“Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation, and this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”

Wow!  Powerful.  I think we need that reminder more now than ever in these tumultuous times.   May our trust be in God.  May we remember that this is a Heav’n rescued land and that the power of God is what has made and preserved us a nation. 

I am proud to be an American.
