The kids (particularly Ash) has been begging all summer for a lemonade stand and bake sale. I have been dragging my feet. Partially because I was just being lazy, but also because I really felt like the kids are totally obsessed with making money this summer so they can buy “stuff.” You know…things at the dollar bin at Target, gum…all things that they really don’t need. I’ve been wanting to give them a service opportunity this summer…a chance to think about doing something for someone other than themselves. I finaly got my act together and we decided to do bake sale/lemonade stand to benefit the Wouned Warrior Project, a charity that we, as a family, have decided to support. It was huge success thanks to the wonderful people in my neighborhood that came out to support the kids…and it was also a ton of fun! A bunch of fun people coming together to do something good while eating cupcakes and lemonade…sounds like a party to me!
