One of our favorite things to do year round is head to the North Beach Trail in San Clemente and walk down to the pier.  The trail is actually a 2.3 mile trail that runs between North Beach and Calafia…so if you want a longer walk you can do it.  The kids can only make it to the pier and back, about a mile each way, so that’s our usual route.  It’s a beautiful and easy walk (or ride! you can bring your bike) right along the ocean.

The trains run by every so often and the kids get a kick out of watching them and waving to the passengers.  Dolphins are a common sight near sunset and it’s always fun to watch the surfers from the pier.  North Beach has a big parking lot and it’s never been a problem for us to find a spot.  Normal beach parking meter rates apply ($1.50 and hour) and the machines take credit cards.  If you’re looking for a fun family activity, this is it!:)  The trail is bike, scooter and stroller (joggers are best) friendly.  For more info check out their website here: North Beach Trail
