About Tammy

Hi!  Welcome to Tammy Mitchell Designs! This is one of my favorite places to hang out and I hope you find lots of things you enjoy here too.

I am a stay at home/work from home, homeschooling mom of two kids.  When people ask me what I do, I often stumble around, looking for the best answer.

Where do I begin? :)  I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t creating.  What started out as crafts and scrapbooks when I was little has now evolved into things I couldn’t have ever imagined!

My early days of creating led me to a job at Provo Craft.  While working there I was surrounded by some VERY talented artists and designers.  I spent most of my paychecks on scrapbooking supplies and developing pictures.  The pictures became ever more important to me as my scrapbooking evolved and I started teaching classes and being published in national publications.  I needed beautiful pictures to make my pages pop!  When my oldest was born I NEEDED a good camera.  I bought my first digital SLR and spent months teaching myself how to use it.  Thank goodness for the internet and places like You Tube!  As my pictures became better so did my scrapbook pages.  I found myself being asked to teach photography classes at scrapbooking conventions around the country.  More and more friends and neighbors asked me to take their pictures, and a photography business was born.

To make my pictures more fun, I started styling shoots for kicks.  Fun backdrops and set ups to put my kids in and take fun pictures.  I also loved interior design and styling parties for my kids…so these two things went hand in hand.  Once my daughter was born, I NEEDED cute hair accessories to put on her for our shoots.;)  I started making hair flowers.  Enough friends and neighbors started asking me to purchase them, so I opened an etsy shop (Pink Peppermint Design) and website and began selling them all over the world and in local boutiques.

As the styled shoots and parties that I designed made their way around the internet I was hired by a family here in OC to design and coordinate my first wedding.  I needed custom graphics for the wedding and parties I was doing, so, with my limited Photoshop skills, I taught myself graphic design (I’m still no expert by any means!) and opened an etsy party printables shop Pink Peppermint Prints.  Party/Photo Shoot/Wedding Styling all go hand in hand with interior design, and before I knew it I was designing residential spaces as well.  Whew!

I recently started a website dedicated strictly to parties over at www.pinkpeppermintprints.com and I spend a lot of my time there and over on the Pink Peppermint Prints facebook page.  www.facebook.com/pinkpeppermintprints  If you’re interested in travelling and fabulous restaurants (my other loves) you can follow me over at www.facebook.com/travelsandtasteswithtam too.

So, that’s what I usually tell people I do.  HA!  NOT!:)  But if you really want to know, that’s the long version!:)

My family is my top priority, so I spend many long nights doing these fun things, and my days are filled with teaching and enjoying my kiddos.

I love to share my ideas and inspiration here.  I hope that you love it.  I’m just honored that you spend a minute of your day here.:)

This is exactly what I’m looking to do for my daughter’s first birthday pool party! I loved the pale pink and aqua combo and am trying to stay away from the tacky traditional colors! How do I contact you for more info?
This is beautiful!
Alana :)
