Let’s Party: Come One Come All- The Circus Party

I have been anxiously waiting January!! It is the start of s few new exciting projects for me. I can’t wait to share them here once they are all completed. Until then, you’ll just have to wait!! Reveal #1 will come at the end of the month as The Sand Bucket releases it’s very first issue. I am So excited to be a part of this uber cool new magazine!! I can’t wait to see premier printed edition!! It will be available as both an e-zine and a printed magazine. I don’t know about you, but I can’t live without my printed magazines. You all know about my afiinity for paper, but there is something about holding the paper, touching the beautiful pictures…YUM!!! I can’t wait!!

Project #2 is going to be the party of the year!! One of my darling little clients is turning the big O-N-E and we are going to CELEBRATE!!! Here’s a little sneak of some of the images dancing in my head that are serving as inspiration for this shindig…

Creative Gift Giving: Upcycled Clearance item turned into a fun gift wrap station

It’s here folks!! The Christmas rush is officially on!!! Just about 12 more days and it’s the deadline! I LOVE the hustle and bustle of this time of year. So, you’re trying to think of something fun to give your friend or neighbor for the annual gift exchange?? Here’s a fun idea. I made this a while back and forgot to share it here. It took me all of about 45 minutes to complete. Can’t beat that!! I know I have mentioned it several times before, but I have a deep love for Homegoods, yep deep, undying love. It’s where I spend most of my cash. I can browse the aisles for hours. As a matter of fact last Saturday they had to escort me out. I closed the place down. One of my favorite things to do is check out the clearance asile for unloved items that can be transformed into something new and loved again. A few months ago I spotted this cute little library card set. The cards themselves weren’t anything fancy, but the box they came in was so cute I just knew I had to do something with it. I wasn’t sure what, but knew I could think of something. I think it found it’s calling:

I turned it in to a box of assorted homemade gift tags. There are tags with ribbons, regular tags and some little cards with envelopes. Also included are a date stamp (i think it’s fun to date cards so that if you save them you can remember when you received it) a small ink pad and a nice black pen. What do you think??? Wouldn’t that make a great gift for a neighbor or friend?? All the tags they need for their gift wrapping this season??

I LOVE to wrap gifts and so a little handmade touch like this would really jazz them up. It was SO EASY!!! What really made it so easy was the “tis the season” line from Teresa Collins that was in my stash at the time. It is so cute. The pre-made tags are all on ONE sheet of paper, you just cut them out. The ribbon tags I made by just tracing a tag shape onto her cute papers (8×8 and 12×12 find them here) , the cards I just used her pre-made and already die-cut cards, and her cute stamp is on the front of the green card. I LOVE it when it is so easy to make something so cute and fun looking. I seriously just cut some stuff up and that was IT!! There are so many cute christmas lines on the market right now, just head to your local scrapbook store and you can find something you love! These cards measure about 3×2…I found the envelopes at a floral supply store

Once everything was neatly tucked inside I slid the lid on, tied it up with some ribbon and added a handmade tag on the outside.

Now who wouldn’t want that??? So search the clearance aisles of your local stores and see what you can create!

Have you heard of the Sand bucket yet? If not, you’ll definitely want to go check it out!! I was honored to be asked to be a part of this new project and I am so excited about it!! Sandi, the owner, has such a great vision for this new quarterly magazine and blog. It is going to be full of amazing ideas for families of all ages. Something really uplifting and fun.

Over on the blog starting this week they are having tons fun guest bloggers introduce you to some wonderful Christmas traditions, gift ideas, etc. It is a definite must see. Coming near the end of January the first issue will be released! WooHoo!!

Pinterest Inspiration: Halloween

I started out really good this year. I had all the Halloween boxes down out of the attic on October 1st…ready to decorate! Well, now it’s the 10th and only half of my stuff is out! How does that happen??? Maybe it’s because I keep spending WAY too much time on the internet looking for inspiration…rather than actually DOING something!! lol! Places to Go: Halloween Shoppe at Roger’s Gardens

If you happen to live in the OC and are looking for a fun little halloween outing, you can head to Roger’s Gardens this weekend. You’ve probably heard me talk about it before around here, but I make a yearly pilgrimage and my halloween just isn’t complete without it!! Each year they pick a theme and dress up their halloween shoppe to the hilt with old props from hollywood and such. I don’t usually buy much, let’s face it…this is Newport Beach and everything is a tad on the expensive side, but it sure is fun to go get ideas and then hunt for similar items elsewhere! If you can’t make the trip, here are a few pictures to make you feel like you did. I apologize in advance for some of the images…these were taken with my son’s point and shoot…in any event…welcome to Blackstone Theater.

Let’s party: Spooktacular Halloween Party Invitations

I can’t tell you just how in love I am with these invitations. So in love that I found them on the internet nearly two years ago, just after Halloween. It was too late to share them at that point, and then last year I FORGOT about them. So, now I am posting them in plenty of time for you to get an idea and use it for your own party this year. I just wish I could remember where I found them. Unfortunately that was before pinterest!

wedding week: Kasey and Didi’s Wedding at Parker Ranch part 2

Are you ready for more details today?? Here’s all the fun stuff!!

The flowers…what can I say? The amazing Lindi over at Floral Design by Lindi is SO great to work with. She can read my mind and that was a big help. I did a poor job at best of describing what I wanted I’m sure, and she was still able to capture the vision and create exactly what I was thinking! The florals were HUGE to this wedding. ALL of the color had to be brought in with the flowers and they definitely delivered!! I wanted loose and organic. I also wanted to different arrangements on the tables. There were SO many tables that I wanted to mix things up a bit. We went with mercury glass glam on some tables and wood box rustic on others. The combination was perfect!! Just the right amount of glam. If you are a bride in the orange county area, you HAVE to contact Lindi for your wedding!! She is the nicest person on top of being uber talented. You WON’T be disappointed!

It was a warm evening so the drink table was a popular spot! There were many drinks to choose from and a great old bathtub on the property and knew that I had to put to good use! I made teeny chalkboards for each of the drink servers and ordered striped purple straws from one of my favorite etsy vendors.

The night was young and there was a lot to do! Between the cinema, smores, photo booth and dancing…the guests had lots to choose from!

the gourmet smores bar included all kinds of fun toppings to allow you to be creative with your culinary skills…

the cinema was complete with hay bales for sitting, a concessions stand, and movies of the bride and groom’s lives. I also sewed a custom photo booth backdrop, made a pennant banner to liven it up, and provided lots of props and fun things to allow guests to take some fun pictures of themselves.

people danced late into the night. it was so fun!! complete with a flash mob to Katy Perry’s “Firework” as the couple’s first dance. It was awesome! At the end of the evening guests were given giant chocolate chip cookie favors wrapped in custom bags that I handstamped and were tied with purple ribbon as well as custom made flashlights with the bride and grooms cutom logo to help aid guests to their cars on a moonless night. Due to the dry conditions we couldn’t use sparklers, so i came up with the idea of glow sticks instead. I have to say that the glowstick tunnel looked pretty cool!

well, what do you think? i hope you love it. i had SO much fun creating it. it was a TON of work, but I’d do it again in a heart beat!!

i’ll be back the rest of this week with some more detailed how to’s and tutorials to re-create some of these details.
