Make This: How to Make Adorable Matchbox Valentines

I have been saving this one for you for almost a year!! I ran across it last year just after valentines and saved these pictures to share this year just in time for valentines. They are seriously SO cute and easy. I am headed to albertsons today to grab some matchboxes (about $1.50 for 10 boxes) and make these myself.

Grab some scraps of paper and ribbon, some tape and a heart punch and you’ve got yourself some homemade valentines in minutes…

make this: valentine treat cones

I’ve been seeing different versions of these popping up all over the place for halloween, wedding favors, etc. so I thought I would make up a quick valentines version and tutorial for you. They are super fun looking and easy to make. Your kids would LOVE to help, and who wouldn’t love finding one of these cute cones filled to the brim with goodies hanging on their door when they wake up valentine’s morning??

Materials:

1. Paper punch I used a heart for valentines, but with the number of punches on the market, the possibilites are endless!!
2. You can use any papers ou have on hand for this craft. Vintage sheet music looks really cool for a more elegant versin. You can find it at flea markets, thrift stores, yard sales or etsy.com.
3. Ribbon
4. Glitter
5. Scissors (if you have pinking shears those would add a fun look too)
6. Clothespin or binder clip
7. White Glue (I use aleene’s tacky glue, elmer’s would work fine too I’m sure)
8. Hole Punch
9. any fun embellishments to hang from the ribbon

Directions:

1. Roll one sheet of paper into a cone shape, gradually working with it to get it to taper off to a point. Glue with a thin layer of tacky glue, using a clothespin, binder clip or paperclip to hold in place until dry.
2. Punch or cut heart shapes from coordinating paper and glue around rim or down the front seam of the paper cone. To create three dimensional look, I folded my hearts slightly in the middle so that they stuck out from the cone, Apply a thin line of glue along edge and hold in place for a few seconds until the glue begins to dry.
3. When completely dry, apply white glue to desired areas and dust with glitter. 4. Punch a hole on each side of the cone and thread ribbon through holes to hang. 5. Fill with goodies and enjoy!

Obviously you can make many different variations of this. Just think of the posibilities. How cute would these be made in the theme of your choice, hanging from the backs of chairs as place card holders. So fun!!

continuing on with my valentine’s theme from yesterday I am anxious to debut another new line from Teresa Collin’s Designs. Teresa is all about documenting your life and making to do! This year she has created a new HOME line (which I will show you some samples from soon!) and this new fabulous Mr. and Mrs. Wedding Line. Here are a couple of my creations with it…

Make This: It’s the most wonderful time of the year…

at least for scrapbooker’s that’s true! In just a few short days the largest craft and hobby trade show in the country will begin. I am lucky because CHA is right in my hometown. In just a few short minutes on the freeway I can be standing in a convention center full of the newest, hottest craft and hobby products you will soon see coming to your local Michaels, JoAnns, and scrapbook store. It is a little piece of heaven on earth if you ask me!

To make things even better I have the opportunity to work as a designer for one of the talented designers in the industry. I get to see, and touch and create and love this stuff even before it hits the show!! I have been a busy bee creating the days away for the weekend…and I still am. But for now I can show you a peek of some of the stuff I am working on. Keep it tuned here if you’re a scrapbooker for therest of the week and I’ll spill some more suprise product releases from Teresa Collins Designs.

First is a new little PINK line that will be revealed later… all I can tell you is that the awesome leopard paper and tag are from this new line!

If you want to re-create this look it’s simple. Cut your background cardstock to 8.5x11and use your corner rounder to round the corners. Cut your piece of leopard print paper to 7.5×10 and round the corners.

Mat your 2 4×6 photos with 4.5×6.5 mats and round all corners.

cut the strip of one sheet of bazzill cardstock with an edge of and mount behind the left hand side of your page leaving the edges exposed.

Add your photos and embellishments as shown on the picture. and Wa-la! A layout in 30 minutes or less!

Make This: Turn YOUR Handwriting into a FONT!

It’s no secret that I LOVE fonts, and I. LOVE. PAPER. I can browse stationery shops forever. I even love to buy old paper stuff… books, ephemera and anything type at antique stores. I LOVE old printing blocks, marquee letters…you name it!

SO, you can imagine my excitement when I stubmled upon this the other day:

It is SO cool!!! You can turn your own handwriting into a font!! You can put it all together, test it out, and then if you love it buy it for only $10. How cool is that???

If you are a paper crafter, scrapbooker or journaler it is perfect. You can put your own handwriting on your projects without having to actually WRITE it. LOVE it!!

I thought it would be extra cool to do this with your kids. When they are little they have the CUTEST handwriting. Now you can keep it forever!!

With the illness that hit me hard for the first two weeks of the year, I ended up throwing cards out the window this year. So, if you didn’t get one from me, don’t feel bad…no one did!

Eye Candy Scrapbooking: Teresa Collins Friendship Album

I have been feeling like I am in a creative slump for a little while now. I REALLY don’t like to feel like that. Those of you that know me, know that I like to be creating everyday. So, when I feel like the idea bank has dried up it’s no fun. Well, yesterday a fun box o new BEAUTIFUL stuff arrived on my doorstep. It was a very fun surprise and just what I needed to end my slump.

I made this mini album from the Teresa Collins Friendship Line. It is BEAUTIFUL blues, white, creme, and black. You know that I LOVE that combination. Let me know what you think.

Make This: DIY How to make Stamped Onesies–A great baby gift!

When I ran across these a few weeks ago, I couldn’t help but think–GENIUS!! They are super cute, aforadable, and you can make them in any shape or color. Your baby can have handmade clothes that are super cute and easy! It doesn’t get better than that!

How about having the supplies on hand and making it baby shower activity? Let each of the guests create their own unique onesie for the mom to be.

I’m always looking for fun and unique gift ideas and I think these are perfect!! Just a warning though, if you show up with a couple of these at the next shower, be prepared to be invited to many more!!!
