Have you heard the news?? Calling all crafters…yes..that’s you!! I’ve been out of town this last week doing some fun things and I am so excited to finally share!!!

Whether you are a paper crafter, party planner, love to sew, take pictures, decorate, renovate, make jewlery…you name it, this channel is for you. Web based TV programming is becoming the wave of the future and you can be one of the first to jump on board. Debuting in September– coming live to a computer screen near you– are 20 new shows from your favorite bloggers and crafters teaching you how to do the things you love– think HGTV for crafters! It is going to be awesome!! I was honored to be asked to be a part of this exciting venture and had the chance to travel to Utah last week to film a photography show with the creators of mycraftchannel.com

Here’s a quick shot of Amy and me on set. Amy is the creator of The Paperlife a great website and fun paper printables.

I wish I had taken a minute to get a shot with the darling Kristine McKay president and founder of MyCraftChannel.com it was so fun to meet her. You can check out her great website and designs here.

I’ll be sure to let you know when the show premieres!

Have a great day!

I have long professed my love for the site allrecipes.com. If you love to cook like I do then this will quickly become one of your favorites too. Everything under the sun is found there and with TONS of ratings…so you can really get feel for whether or not you are going to like something before you make it. I found this recipe a while back and we LOVE it. With all this cold weather and rain I LOVE to make some homemade soup.

Recipe:

2 skinless, boneless chicken breasts (I use a costco rotissere chicken..cheap, ymmu and WAY faster!!)

1/2 teaspoon olive oil

1/2 teaspoon minced garlic

1/4 teaspoon ground cumin

2 (14.5 ounce) cans chicken broth

1 cup frozen corn kernels

1 cup chopped onion

1/2 teaspoon chili powder

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 cup chunky salsa (i use pace medium)

8 ounces corn tortilla chips

1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese

My additions: sliced avocado and sour cream on top

Directions

In a large pot over medium heat, saute the chicken in the oil for 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cumin and mix well. Then add the broth, corn, onion, chili powder, lemon juice and salsa. Reduce heat to low and simmer for about 20 to 30 minutes.

Break up some tortilla chips into individual bowls and pour soup over chips. Top with the Monterey Jack cheese.

I serve mine with quesadillas too. A little twist on the tomato soup and grilled cheese. The kids gobble this stuff up!

You can have this at you house tonight in about 30 minutes…so easy and SO good!!

Enjoy!!

I’ve been seeing different versions of these popping up all over the place for halloween, wedding favors, etc. so I thought I would make up a quick valentines version and tutorial for you. They are super fun looking and easy to make. Your kids would LOVE to help, and who wouldn’t love finding one of these cute cones filled to the brim with goodies hanging on their door when they wake up valentine’s morning??

Materials:

1. Paper punch I used a heart for valentines, but with the number of punches on the market, the possibilites are endless!!
2. You can use any papers ou have on hand for this craft. Vintage sheet music looks really cool for a more elegant versin. You can find it at flea markets, thrift stores, yard sales or etsy.com.
3. Ribbon
4. Glitter
5. Scissors (if you have pinking shears those would add a fun look too)
6. Clothespin or binder clip
7. White Glue (I use aleene’s tacky glue, elmer’s would work fine too I’m sure)
8. Hole Punch
9. any fun embellishments to hang from the ribbon

Directions:

1. Roll one sheet of paper into a cone shape, gradually working with it to get it to taper off to a point. Glue with a thin layer of tacky glue, using a clothespin, binder clip or paperclip to hold in place until dry.
2. Punch or cut heart shapes from coordinating paper and glue around rim or down the front seam of the paper cone. To create three dimensional look, I folded my hearts slightly in the middle so that they stuck out from the cone, Apply a thin line of glue along edge and hold in place for a few seconds until the glue begins to dry.
3. When completely dry, apply white glue to desired areas and dust with glitter. 4. Punch a hole on each side of the cone and thread ribbon through holes to hang. 5. Fill with goodies and enjoy!

Obviously you can make many different variations of this. Just think of the posibilities. How cute would these be made in the theme of your choice, hanging from the backs of chairs as place card holders. So fun!!

enjoy!!

I saw these in a book a while ago and HAD to make one for Easter. I thought they were too cool! The best part is they are EASY. In a matter of 20 minutes I was able to create something that looked really fun and unique. If you are hosting a mother’s day brunch, wedding or baby shower, or anything else for that matter…try one of these as a centerpeice or in your buffet line. Yummy! I’ll include an easy dip recipe that you can serve with it for even more yumminess!
Supplies you’ll need:
A craft topiary form. I used one with two foam balls. You could do one or three if you choose…depending on how big you want it to be.
A base/pot for the topiary
a glue gun
some floral moss
toothpicks
strawberries (I needed about 4lbs for this one)
Wash and dry your strawberries. Leave the stems ON. This is what keeps them from falling off the toothpicks!
Glue your topiary base and form into your pot. Secure it REALLY well. The topiary will be REALLY top heavy so you want your base to be secure.
I started out sticking toothpicks into my topiary like this..

As you go you may have to move things around a little and fill in here and there, but it gives you a good place to start.
Stick your srawberries on the toothpicks through the stem to give the toothpicks something to grab a hold of.
Continue to fill in around the foam topiary forms until you have this..

Isn’t that cool??? I think it would be cute with little fruit kabobs on it too!
Here’s the dreamy dip to serve with this or ANY fruit:
1 package (8oz) of cream cheese, softened
1 jar of marshmallow creme
zest of 1 orange
a little bit of orange juice squeezed from the orange you zest
combine all ingredients and mix until smooth and creamy.
What do you think? Pretty easy for a lot of WOW! factor, huh?
Have a great day!
